The North Carolina Wind Wave Power project is developing a 30-year data set that will provide an accurate picture of wind wave power in the western Atlantic ocean off the coast of North Carolina. The data set, along with interactive geo-referenced maps and visualizations, will help researchers, developers, engineers, and others answer important questions about the potential of wind waves, both as an energy source and as a factor to consider in all ocean energy and engineering projects.

The data include hourly wave spectral parameters throughout the western Atlantic ocean and detailed raw spectra hindcasted from historical winds adjacent to the North Carolina coast to the shelf.
